Introduction to Working with Children

Principles & Guidelines, Using a Solution Focused Approach,
Induction Techniques, Self-esteem Building, Enuresis

By Lynda Hudson

Clinical Hypnotherapist

Specialist in Children's Problems

Author of 'Scripts and Strategies in Hypnotherapy with Children' &

'More Scripts and Strategies in Hypnotherapy' (for adults)

Overview

This workshop will help you identify and be prepared for the differences in approach between working with adults and working with children. It offers general principles, guidelines and good practice for the safety and protection of child and therapist alike.

Building trust is all important and, by using a solution focused approach, it seems that often as  much therapy can take place outside the trance as  inside the trance. Being aware of the expectations of all concerned (including the therapist) is important, as also is the need to expect the unexpected and be able to use your own creativity and imagination.

During the day there will be a mix of lecture, examples of case history, questions and group discussion on the following topics:

  • Differences in approach between adults and children
  • General principles and guidelines
  • Using a solution focused approach
  • Appropriate induction techniques
  • Self-esteem building
  • Enuresis

Student notes and Certificate will be provided

Suitable for CPD

The workshop assumes knowledge and skill using a variety of hypnotic approaches with adults but little or no experience in working with children

During the day there will be a mix of lecture, examples of case history, questions and group discussion on the following topics:

  • Brief Review of a Solution Focused Approach
  • General Anxiety
  • Phobias

The workshop assumes knowledge and skill using a variety of hypnotic approaches with adults and preferably, but not essentially, some experience in working with children.

NEW workshop!

Fussy Eating & Selective Mutism

&

A Short Question and Answer Session on Working with Children

By Lynda Hudson

Clinical Hypnotherapist, Specialist in Children's Problems
Author of 'Scripts and Strategies in Hypnotherapy with Children'
& 'More Scripts and Strategies in Hypnotherapy' (for adults)

Overview

This workshop will look at a couple of areas which present less frequently than average in the children’s consulting room but take careful handling when they do. In view of the recent news that the NHS is dealing with a surge of very young children who present with eating disorders, it seems to be time to re-address the subject of fussy or picky eating and take some measures early on to prevent any possible progression into an eating disorder.

Selective Mutism is an anxiety based disorder where sufferers feel unable to communicate partially or completely with certain people or in certain situations even though they are actually capable of speaking freely in situations where they feel comfortable and at ease. We will look at possible causes and treatment and consider how to structure a session with someone who may not feel able to talk to you.

There will also be time set aside in the afternoon for questions and answers which need not relate to the topic of the day but they should not refer to a condition which is so complex as to merit a whole day’s training

Suitable for CPD

Student notes and Certificate will be provided

This workshop is designed for therapists who have training and experience in working with adults and also some experience in working with children.

NEW!

Supervision Day

By Lynda Hudson

Clinical Hypnotherapist, Specialist in Children's Problems
Author of 'Scripts and Strategies in Hypnotherapy with Children'
& 'More Scripts and Strategies in Hypnotherapy' (for adults)

Overview

This is an opportunity to discuss and advise on selected case studies of your own. Once you have reserved your place on the course, you are invited to send me an email with a VERY BRIEF RESUME of a case you would like the group to discuss. These cases should not refer to a condition which is so complex as to merit a whole day’s training in themselves as each attendee will be given equal time to participate! In addition to comment and advice from Lynda, there will be ample time for group discussion of the case so that the session is interactive and each individual can benefit from the thoughts and experience of other members of the group.

Time will also be allowed for shorter questions and answers session on any topic related to working with children.

Suitable for CPD

Certificate will be provided

This workshop is designed for therapists who have training and experience in working with adults and also some experience in working with children.

SMALL GROUPS

WE are once again offering small groups of minimum 5 and maximum 7 participants held at my practice in South-East London as they have proved so popular. They give the perfect opportunity for questions and discussion of your individual  cases and problems.

Some workshops assume more experience than others so please read the description carefully to find the one that is right for you. Because the Selective Mutism workshop deals with a rather more complex and less well known condition, at least some experience of working with children is assumed.
